Questions
Questions before you book
What happens at a first visit?
You sit down to a cup of tea and talk: how your skin behaves, what you use, what you'd like from the hour. Laleh looks at your skin in daylight, then you lie back for the facial massage, with oil and warm cloths. The first visit takes an hour and ends with another cup of tea.
How long does a visit take?
Between 30 and 75 minutes, depending on the service. Every service on the menu lists its own time, and the 30-minute visits are made to fit between classes or office hours.
What is gua sha, and does it hurt?
Gua sha is a smooth stone drawn along the face and neck with oil. On the face the strokes are light and slow, and the pressure is yours to set. Tell Laleh if you'd like it lighter, and she will.
Will my skin look different afterward?
Some skin turns pink for a little while after a facial massage or gua sha, and some doesn't. Laleh tells you what to expect before she begins. Results vary, and she doesn't promise a change in your skin.
What oils and products do you use?
A plain cleanser and a light facial oil, and a few masks. Ask about any of them and Laleh will read you the label. Tell her at booking if there is something you would rather she not use.
Can I come between classes?
Yes. The 30-minute visits are for exactly that: a warm-cloth cleanse and short massage, or a gua sha with a jade roller. Book one on the booking page and arrive a few minutes early; the room is a short walk from campus by bicycle.
Do I need a consultation first?
For a first visit, yes, and it is part of the first-visit booking: 20 minutes of talk and a shortened facial massage. After that you can book any service directly.
Who should ask a doctor first?
If you are pregnant or might be, use a prescription skin medicine, or have a skin condition a doctor is managing, ask your doctor before you book, and tell Laleh at booking so she can plan the visit around it.
How does pricing work?
Prices aren't printed on this site. They depend on the service and its length, plus any add-ons, and the booking page shows the price when you choose a service, before you confirm.
Is there parking?
There is metered street parking on Third Street and a public lot a block away, and bicycle racks by the front door.
